I called the city parking violations office. After driving throughout the city tying up loose ends, we finally got the pretty orange 'boot' removed from the wheel of her car. The previous night was still lingering in my eyes and made it's presence through my shaky hands. Through out the day I recounted a certain reverence by old friends and comrades that seem to be held in my heart like pieces of oragami on a string.
At the days end when all was well and free with her car, we gathered Ryan and Laurence to go and see Adam play at a place in Los Feliz called Tangier. I was still reeling over our first official show the night before, and my head was still spinning also like a broken piano hoping to be retuned. Adam's show was compelling and beautiful. His lyrics and self reflection built a world in my head that longed to be visited, vacated for the visceral a short while ago.
After the show Ryan, Elises, and I went to a nearby pizza joint. The place was closed but the kind man kept it open just for us. Here we met a man named Dr. John, a hypnotherapist who stressed the importance of linguistics in manifesting postive reactions in the universe. We found ourselves alone in this parlor with the kind pizza parlor owner and Dr. John. It was as if we had entered a parallel universe of some sort, the feeling was of being in some foriegn land, not of this space or time --like a brother's Grimm story perhaps. As we sat listening to what was in affect a lecture on language and it's reactions, the night stretched out longer than we expected. We all parted ways and made our way home with gaping grins, knowing the memory was imprinted ineffably for us.
Dr. John will be in many stories in the future...if we can some how make sense of it all...
stay tuned...
