today the sky is blue in southern california. it is approximately 78 degrees and the future seems illuminated. looking at the downtown la skyline from just outside of our rehearsal studio, we are excited to be hitting the road again soon - even for just 9 dates. we have been listening to a lot of the new little joy record - its good. we saw a really cool mariachi band last week, didn't catch their name though. hopefully we figure it out soon so we can spread the word about them throughout town.
more new songs are surfacing and the smiles on our faces after we play them is a testament to how strong we feel about them. I cannot wait to play them for our home town friends and fans at the Troubadour. also looking forward to showing everyone else the new tunes - on tour, and through this lovely celluloid device. We'll prob put up a demo of a new song soon.
been reading "Conversations with Hideous Men" by DF Wallace and it goes well w/Buena Vista Social Club.
Also I have been listening to a great singer who is from Cape Verde (just off of Senegal), she sings in portugese. I am surprised not many of my friends listen to her, or even know of her but i recommend her highly - her name is Cesaria Evora. I was first sent her CD from a friend of mine in NYC. She mailed it to me as a gift about 8 or 9 years ago (during my first newly independent years) and it really left a mark and impression on me.
anyhow, thats it for now.
hope everyone is well.
lots of love
