This past summer our last club stop on our national tour, before we played High Sierra Music Festival, was in San Francisco. SF has always been a favorite stop for us, a beautiful city, filled with idiosyncrasies. In SF we played at Slims, which has a cook there that makes the food daily for the bands that play. His name is Jose and he makes the family dinner with love and enthusiasm. Jose took to us very much and we took to him. He called us pisanos, claiming that "we are all brothers in this world.” When we told him we would be playing High Sierra Music Festival the following day, he enthused that his friend Doug from Built to Spill was playing too. He asked us to say hello to Doug for him.

The next day when we got to the festival one of the first things we did was get an dinner. I ran into Doug in line for food in the artist tents. I approached him and told him that Jose from Slims sends his hello. With a huge grin Doug asked, “oh did he feed you guys well?”

Later that night I watched Built to Spill play again for the second time at a festival we’ve played together. The third time will be interesting I suspect ;)
we're looking forward to seeing Jose in a few weeks when we play Slims
